On Monday 17th June 3N had a wonderful time visiting the university cacao plantation. It is not often we can see something being made from beginning to end but Year 3 had the pleasure to see this on their trip. In the plantation we saw the young cacao plants and the fully grown ones. The children were able to see the flowers on the trunk of the tree and then observe the flowers changing to small cocoa pods and then fully grown ones. Then it was on to the Marou factory where Vincent and Samuel, the owners showed us how the cacao beans are made into a bar of delicious Marou chocolate. The children saw the roasing, shelling of the nibs, mixing, tempering, moulding and cooling and finally the wrapping of the bars all under one roof. As a last treat they were able to taste the chocolate and take a bar home.
Enjoy our pictures of the trip.

Dear Parents,

Please note, that homework will be given on Monday.  This is to give your child a chance to do the following:

1) Learn their script words by memory for Monday 13th May.

2) Get their costume sorted out (if they haven't already) and brought in to school by Monday 13th May.

3) Learn the chocolate song words below:

Thanks, Ms Andrea

The Chocolate Song

Oh I’ve got lots of chocolate
Give me lovely chocolate
It’s the best thing to eat for sure
When I get eggs for Easter it’s my favourite treat
And I can always make some room for more.
I’ve got some plain and milk ones
And some toffee filled ones
I’ve got boxes all around the place
I’ve got a strong affection for my chocolate collection
I’m mad about that chocolate taste!
Oh I’ve got lots of chocolate
Give me lovely chocolate
It’s the best thing to eat for sure
When I get eggs for Easter it’s my favourite treat
And I can always make some room for more.
I’ve eaten milky white ones
With some sweets inside them
I’ve got chocolate all around my face
They’ve got some pretty wrappers, but that’s not what matters,
I’m mad about that chocolate taste!
Oh I’ve got lots of chocolate
Give me lovely chocolate
It’s the best thing to eat for sure
When I get eggs for Easter it’s my favourite treat
And I can always make some room for more.

Dear all Year 3 Parents,
As I am sure you are all aware, the year 3 children are doing the production of the Lion King on the 21st March this year.
We want it to be a fabulous show and to help the kids, we need a team of willing helpers to produce costumes and stage sets.
I have been through all the ideas in detail with Miss Ruth and we are now ready to start all the hard work.
The more helpers we have the easier it will be.... and the better the results ....so please join us... There may even be the odd glass of wine along the way to enhance our creative talents.

We have arranged an initial meeting at Evita cafe on Friday 22nd... At 8am after drop off.

Please come and find out all about the help required.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE CREATIVE.... WE JUST NEED LOTS OF EXTRA HANDS.

Looking forward to seeing you all.

The Sleepover

The activities included:

circle games

dodge ball
football
party games
art
The children enjoyed either pizza or fish and chips for dinner. Then it was setting up bed time. The children worked cooperatively to set up and pump up beds. Then the children went to brush teeth and it was all excitement. Ms Andrea read 3 bedtime stories on the big screen. Then it was into sleeping bags and a light show with torches as the lights went down. Then lights out for bed.
